Under The Sea

This cake was my absolute favourite so far.  I was contacted for an 'Under the Sea' themed baby shower cake - two tier, chocolate for both tiers. I expected it to be fun to do with all the colourful little sea creatures and it most certainly was. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time on all the little details.

Under the Sea Cake

Some of the details include: The fish family on the front which are replicas of the party invite, the little 'It's a boy!' sign in the octopus's arm, the chocolate shells I made to place here and there, different types of coral were made with coloured candy melts (melted then put in an icing bag to create them on wax parchment paper, then chilled), brown sugar for sand, a lot of colourful little guppies to fill in spaces, cute little starfish, a snail and two turtles, and a happy little crab.

I can't tell you how many times the song 'Beyond the Sea' by Bobby Darin popped into my head while making this one. It's an old one but I love it!
